Laura and Edward were married at Flower Works followed by a reception at Ore Dock Brewing Company in Marquette, Mich. this past winter. “During the winter in Marquette, Michigan, there is usually a lot of snow,” Laura said. “”With that comes two things, dark grey skies and bright white snow. The contrast of the white snow against the dark grey sky looked so elegant to me that it jump started my winter wedding plans.” The bride wore a beaded lace sweetheart neckline wedding gown from Demetrios’ Ultra Sophisticates collection, accessorized with a white flower hairpiece and a classic veil, which was clipped to her updo. The groom wore a classic tuxedo adorned with a black bow tie and boutonniere. The bridesmaids wore pink dresses with white cardigans and held pink peony bouquets. The groomsmen wore gray suits with skinny black ties. Following the ceremony, guests sat at round tables with candles and wooden slab centerpieces, tying in the rustic theme present throughout. “I grew up in a farming town in northern Indiana,” she said. “I wanted to incorporate some of that rustic charm I had come to love growing up by the farms. I tried to bring this rustic charm in with a sort of unintentional elegance that I think we often see with the frost, snow and ice of winter.” The bride and groom cut the pie, instead of the cake, and enjoyed dancing the night away. Their guests sent them off with sparklers while they went home with a warm cup of hot cocoa! See the full board here.
